A new Patsy Cline exhibit will be unveiled at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on April 15 to coincide with the first night of a six-week run of the musical, Always ... Patsy Cline. The artifacts and memorabilia come from the collections of three of Cline's fans -- Theresa Shalaby, Bill Cox and Mark Willix. The musical was first staged at the Ryman in 1994. Mandy Barnett will reprise her role as Cline, and Tere Myers will return as Louise Seger, a fan who met the singer at a concert and often corresponded with her.
The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is scheduled for this weekend, April 17-19, at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California. Paul McCartney headlines April 17, along with Morrissey and Franz Ferdinand appearing that day. The Killers headline April 18, with M.I.A., Joss Stone and the Drive-By Truckers also performing. April 19 closes the festival with The Cure, as well as My Bloody Valentine and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs performing that day as well. 04/13: MerleFest 2009
MerleFest 2009 will be held April 23-26 at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C. with more than 95 acts on 15 stages. Linda Ronstadt will make her first appearance at MerleFest on Sunday, April 26, closing the four-day festival on a high note with a performance consisting entirely of traditional mariachi songs sung in Spanish. Joining her will be the Grammy-winning Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano.

Billy Currington will headline a concert following the Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon in Nashville on April 25. Opening acts include Ashton Shepherd and the Carter Twins. The concert is open to the public and tickets are $30.
04/13: New Orleans Jazz Festival
The 40th annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will be held April 24-26 and April 30-May 3 with Sugarland among the many acts participating. Known as Jazz Fest, the event also features Wynton Marsalis, Aretha Franklin, Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, Tony Bennett, Bon Jovi, Emmylou Harris, the Del McCoury Band, and many more. 03/26: Free Concerts In Las Vegas
Free concerts will be held in Las Vegas leading up to the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 5. Jason Alden will headline the Fremont Street Experience on April 3, joined by Jake Owen, Julianne Hough and Matt Stillwell. LeAnn Rimes will perform on April 4, along with Kellie Pickler, the Zac Brown Band and Gloriana.

Many artists are participating in Earth Hour, an event that will be part of the world's largest demonstration of public concern for climate change. Jo Dee Messina will play a free concert in downtown Nashville in honor of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28. At 8:30 p.m., more than 200 Nashville businesses (including the honky-tonks on Lower Broadway) will go dark for one hour. As the skylines go dark, the city's officials are asking all city residents to turn off non-essential lighting as part of the Earth Hour demonstration about cutting down energy waste.

9 to 5: The Musical will debut April 7 at the Marriott Marquis Theatre on Broadway. The play is based on a book by Patricia Resnick, co-writer of the original screenplay, and the 1980 movie in which Parton co-starred with Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman. The musical is directed by Joe Mantello and cheoreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler with music and lyrics written by Dolly Parton. The three female leads in the musical will be played by Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty.
Craig Morgan will again this year host a charity ride and concert on March 31 near Dickson, Tennessee. The event will include motocross and ATV trail-riding, a silent auction and an acoustic concert. Those scheduled to participate in the event include professional motocross riders Andrew Short, Kevin Windham, Destrey Abbott, Fred Andrews and Barry Hawk, with a concert featuring Craig Morgan, Bucky Covington, Blake Shelton, James Otto and more! The event will celebrate the launch of the Craig Morgan Fund, which benefits several local and national youth-based charities.
